Great food very accommodating service and a young vibe in an eclectic neighborhood Modern Chinese

My favorite Chinese dumplings to go place. Service is excellent and food is always delicious.

This was our second time eating at this place. My mom and I absolutely love it. We never wait super long for a table and the service is excellent. Our server was on it the whole night. Decor is pretty modern and simple inside. There's also patio seating which is awesome when it's warm outside. The food tastes super good. I highly recommend stopping in for dinner!

A nice discovery on the west side of LA. Been twice for their dumplings. They are amazing. We ordered the soup dumplings, steamed dumplings and popcorn chicken. The chili sauce that can be ordered with the steamed dumplings is out of this world! We lap up the last drop. Service has always been friendly and the restaurant is very clean. The Good: delicious dumplings and great service. The bad: Parking Chances I'll Be Back: YES! My go to place for dumplings on the west side you won't be disappointed

Yum yum and yum. Everything we ordered was great. We had: Spicy oxtail soup so beefy Pork soup dumplings. Tons of soup inside. Salt and pepper tofu. Tasty! Snow pea leaves with garlic Service was fast though they are busy so was occasionally hard to get the waitress. Also check in a the door took a while since only the manager could seat people but he got us in quickly so that was nice. I like the modern aesthetic and sitting outside was okay because of the hear lamps.

Everything was amazing The dumplings are the stand out but the soup dumplings and pan fried. You can't go wrong. DTF has competition

Visited my daughter at UCLA. We wanted Asian food and headed to Sawtelle. Walked up and down the street and saw many places that looked inviting. We settled on Dan Modern Chinese because we saw dim sum on some tables that looked good. We ordered soup dumplings, dumplings, bok choy and noodles. The dumplings were very good and the noodles and bok choy were decent. I would come back for dumplings but would pass on the noodles. If you crave dim sum, this place will satisfy your craving but dont expect much from the noodles. Noodles were thick and chewy with a gravy like sauce. Homemade noodles but not the best.

Dan Modern Chinese is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Sawtelle! This is a very busy area, so make sure to give yourself time to find street parking and potentially wait to be seated. I have been here several times and have somehow managed to always be seated right away. I will say this place always seems a little understaffed but the food is great. Whether you're coming for lunch or dinner, I find it's great to order several dishes for the table to split as opposed to getting your own entrees. Some of my favorites are the scallion pancakes, pork xiao long bao (soup dumplings), short rib/shrimp dan mein, and the broccoli and string beans. Everything that I've tried here is delicious and filled with flavor! I will continue coming back here for the food, but this place would be perfect if they hired a few more servers. Give this place a try!
